Intro:

The pod squad starts the show by talking about what we should call our fans.  We reluctantly decide on “Frokers”.  After that, we talk about why Peter is shirtless and just did 30 pushups.

Win/Fail:

In our win/fail segment:

Peter has made some changes around the way he approaches food with his kids.  He has decided to make an effort to be less outwardly judgemental about the choices his kids make around food.  His role will be to bring the food into the house and it stops there.  His kids will have to make choices about when, how much, etc.  WIN.

Gary is excited to talk about a patient that has been listening to us and decided to make big life changes around health and money.  WIN.

Sarah admits to being an asshole for the past few weeks and APOLOGIZES!.  Gary soaks in the apology but gives Sarah a pass due to her life stressors.  FAIL.

Main Discussion:

Next, we dive into our topic of the day, “Immunity Now | How To Build A Better Immune System.”

The F&B team talks about how we have more influence on our immune system than we may realize.  After experiencing Covid-19, we provide actionable tips for us and our listeners to take to build a more robust immune system.

We start by talking about the difference between Passive and Active immunity.

Passive immunity refers to masks, hand washing, vaccines, etc.  Active immunity is what we can do to improve our actual immune system so that if the passive immunity fails, we still have the ability to fight bacteria, viruses, etc.

Peter brings up the 4 domains of immune health:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Exercise
  3. Sleep
  4. Stress

Action Items:

  1. Follow the 90/10 rule.  Get 90% of your food from whole foods.
  2. Get your lab work done to see where you may need to supplement.
  3. Exercise daily and often to keep your immune system active and circulating in your body.
  4. Sleep 7-9+ hours per day to keep your immune system strong.  Create a quiet and dark space to sleep.  Cooler temps are better (65-68 degrees).  Eliminate LED screens an hour before bed.
  5. Do not over-stress your body or mind.  Don’t overtrain your body.  Use meditation, sleep, and crying to control your stress.
  6. Get Vitamin D through the sun and supplements!
  7. Use passive immunity precautions to prevent illness when you can.

Listener Feedback:
