Introduction:

We are recording three shows today!  Sarah has just returned from a wedding, so we talk about that for a bit.  Gary went to Portland and is trying to be social.  Gary is also failing at sending our t-shirts out to the listeners.

Main Show:

Sarah’s W.I.N:

Sarah has an article from the NY Times supporting the need to take “sad” days.  We have a good discussion about sick days in general and why mental health days are so important.  Sarah decides that she needs a mental health month.

Peter’s W.I.N:

Peter talks about a task force that makes recommendations to doctors about routine screenings.  Per this group, there is not enough evidence supporting the need for regular Vitamin D screening.  The group discusses the difference between treating disease vs. preventing disease.  We also touch on the benefits of Vitamin D, including boosting our immune system, maintaining blood sugar, and its positive cardiovascular effects.

Gary’s W.I.N:

Gary talks about Simone Biles as it pertains to “the twisties” and “the yips.”  We discuss the difference between what happened to her physically and her mental health.  We also discuss the physiological reasons behind what is going on with her.

Fan Feedback:

Voice Memo #1:

We have a good message from Heather about what HR she should workout at to burn fat.  Peter gives a good answer to this commonly asked question.
